This year has had some wonderful moments and some transitional challenges as well as we adapt to the needs in the community where additional resources are needed to fulfill our Mission. Some retreat dates had to be postponed due to circumstances beyond our control, but we are glad that this is temporary and they will likely be revived again.

In September we will be hosting two rescue mission groups at Hidden Trace Farm in Franklin TN. Each of these missions have participated with us in the past and are returning for their 3rd time due to the wonderful impact Hope Rising had on their residents who attended. The healing and encouragement that happens at our retreats is very fulfilling to witness especially as each person opens up more and can share their stories.

September 23-25 will be with Lovelady Center from Birmingham. I had a chance to visit the mission recently and was asked to speak at chapel. What an exhilarating experience. It’s contagious to see how much joy emanates from those who are literally in a struggle to save their lives.

September 28-30 we will have KARM bringing a group of residents from Knoxville. I also had a chance to visit them on campus recently. Their endorsement of Hope Rising is such an encouragement.

A new development is that Lovelady and KARM will become Hope Rising partners going forward. Also, joining this alliance will be The Foundry in Bessemer AL, where I recently was given the honor of speaking at chapel. I have to relay a short story. After the chapel a tall man maybe in his 30’s came up and pulled me aside. He said, “Today, you saved my life!” My heart lept as he said, “I was planning to walk away from the program this afternoon and after I heard what you said I’ve decided to rededicate myself to stay in recovery!” Praise God. I could tell from his words that, had he left that afternoon, it was not going to be a good outcome.

Hope Rising retreats continue to have wonderful impact. Developing these partnerships with various missions will allow us to plan further in advance and be more responsive to their specific needs that can be addressed within our programming. Our passion for and commitment to what we’re doing remains high as we trust God’s timing for each step.
