God Was Drivin’

God Was Driving

Jason Sever

I woke up on that steering wheel
To the smell of gas and mangled steel
Said I was doin 95 and
God was driving

Had a bottle of whiskey riding shotgun
And I’m glad it wasn’t someone
But I didn’t care man I was wild and
God was driving

I used to wonder how I wound I’m where I’m at
I was out of control and man I was alright with that
I’m found a whole new place
In whole nother state
That I’m alive in
I could say I got myself here but I’d be lying
God was driving

I’d been hitching that Tupelo highway
With my thumb in my air that was my way
Till a truck pulled over on the side and
God was driving

I’d been living where the dark and the soul meet
And I passed right out in the backseat
Ya talk about perfect timing
God was driving

Chorus

Now I’m behind these bars like Daniel
It ain’t nothing I can’t handle
Bible says put your time in
God’s still driving
